Cane and rattan weaving is an old village craft in Sri Lanka. Artisans split and shape the stems of climbing palms and reeds, then weave them by hand into baskets, trays, lampshades and furniture. Each piece is made by hand, so a range has the small variations buyers of natural homeware look for, and new shapes can be made to order without tooling.

Made to your design

Send a drawing, a photo or a sample. We confirm the material, dimensions, weave, colour and finish, then make a pre-production sample for your approval before the order. Retailers can mix several designs in one order, subject to a minimum per design that we confirm with the quote.

Quality and paperwork

Natural cane and rattan are plant materials, so pieces are dried and treated before packing to protect them from mould and insects in transit. Many importing countries ask for a phytosanitary or fumigation certificate for plant-based goods; tell us your destination and we arrange the documents your market requires. Woven pieces are light but bulky, so they are nested where possible to reduce freight.

Private label

Retail packs can carry your brand. Send us your artwork, pack size and labelling requirements for your market, and we confirm packing options, minimum order and lead time with the quote. You remain responsible for the label claims made in your market.

Packing and shipping

Orders are packed to your instruction and shipped by sea in a full or shared container, or by air for samples and small lots, quoted FOB Colombo, CFR or CIF to your port. Products from several Sri Lankan suppliers can share one container through our consolidation service.
