CITES for orchids

All orchids are listed under CITES, the convention on trade in endangered species, even when they are farm-grown hybrids. Cut flowers of artificially propagated hybrids are exempt in many cases, but rules depend on the species and the importing country, and some shipments still need a permit. We confirm the paperwork for each order.

Packing and vase life

Stems are graded by length and number of blooms, sleeved and packed in boxes for air freight, with orchid sprays often in water tubes. Vase life depends on the time from cutting to arrival and the cold chain at your end, so tell us your airport and how quickly the flowers move to customers. Weekly standing orders help growers plan the cut.

Packing and shipping

Orders are packed to your instruction and shipped by sea in a full or shared container, or by air for samples and small lots, quoted FOB Colombo, CFR or CIF to your port. Products from several Sri Lankan suppliers can share one container through our consolidation service.
