Description

Butterfly pea, Clitoria ternatea, is a climbing vine with bright blue flowers that grows across tropical Asia, including Sri Lanka. The dried flowers brew a deep blue tea. Add lemon or lime and the color turns violet, which makes it popular in cafes, cocktails and colored rice and desserts.

Small growers in Sri Lanka pick the flowers by hand and dry them whole.

Where we can sell it

Butterfly pea flower is not authorised as a food in the European Union, so we do not sell it to buyers in the EU, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Buyers elsewhere should confirm their own country’s food rules before ordering.

What to check

Ask for moisture, foreign matter and microbiology results. Good flowers are whole, deep blue and dry, with little green calyx or stem.
