Description

Coconut shell is hard, dense and low in ash, and Sri Lanka’s desiccated coconut and coconut oil mills produce a steady supply of it. Milled and sieved, the shell becomes coconut shell powder (shell flour) at the fine end and coconut shell grit at the coarse end. This is raw milled shell, not charcoal or activated carbon, which are listed separately.

Grades and uses

  • Fine shell flour: a filler for phenolic molding powders, wood glues and plastics, and a base for mosquito coils
  • Medium grades: for cleaning and polishing, and for exfoliant bases
  • Coarse grit: a soft, biodegradable abrasive for blasting delicate surfaces and engine parts

Typical specification

Each grade is sold on its mesh range, with moisture and ash limits. We supply a sieve analysis and certificate of analysis per lot, and match your target mesh with the quote. Fine powders are dusty, so ask for the safety data sheet.

Who buys it

Resin and adhesive makers, mosquito coil producers, blasting media distributors and personal care ingredient suppliers.
