Young jackfruit is picked green, long before it turns sweet. Sri Lankans have cooked it as a curry vegetable for generations. Its neutral taste and fibrous texture also make it the most popular whole-food alternative to pulled pork and chicken in plant-based cooking, which is why canned young jackfruit is now a staple of vegan ranges in supermarkets in the US, UK, Europe and Australia.

Rules for canned foods

Young jackfruit in brine is a low-acid canned food, so it is tightly regulated. For the US, the canning plant must be registered with the FDA and file its process for each product under 21 CFR 113 before the first shipment. The EU and other markets have their own rules for heat treatment, labelling and contaminants such as tin. We confirm the plant’s registrations and the documents for your market with the quote.

Quality documents

Each lot comes with a certificate of analysis, including drained weight and commercial sterility, plus an ingredient and allergen statement.
