Natural coconut shell hides cut and cleaned in Sri Lanka. A coconut shell with an entrance cut into it makes a durable hiding place: small reptiles and amphibians use them as hides, shrimp and small fish shelter in them in aquariums, and hamsters, gerbils and mice use them as huts.

Styles

• Half shells with a cut entrance, to sit on the substrate
• Whole shells with one or two entrances, as caves
• Shells with a hanging cord, for birds and small pets

Preparation

The husk fibre is removed, the shell is cut and the inside is cleaned of coconut meat, then the shell is dried. Pieces for aquariums should be supplied without paint, varnish or glue. Tell us the use, the sizes you want and whether you want the outer fibre sanded smooth.

Who buys it

Pet and aquarium brands, pet shops and online sellers. Shell size varies naturally, so pieces are graded by size and the grade is confirmed on the sample.
