Instant tea is brewed Ceylon tea, concentrated and dried to a powder that dissolves in hot or cold water. Beverage makers use it for ready-to-drink tea, vending and 3-in-1 premixes, and food manufacturers use it as a tea flavour and colour.

How instant tea is used
Hot-water soluble powder suits vending machines and hot premixes. Cold-water soluble powder is made for iced tea and bottled drinks, where it must dissolve clear without heat. Buyers usually judge a lot by its colour in the cup, its taste, how fast it dissolves and whether it stays clear when chilled.
