Accessibility Statement
கடைசியாக புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டது: மே 2026
1. Our Commitment
Harker International is committed to making SriLankaExport.com usable by the widest possible audience, regardless of disability. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our baseline standard.
2. Standards We Apply
- WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the practical baseline for commercial websites globally.
- EN 301 549 — the European accessibility standard, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Section 508 (US) — informally applied as a benchmark.
3. Features We Implement
- Semantic HTML throughout — proper heading hierarchy, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), form labels.
- Keyboard-only navigation for the entire site, including the megamenu and mobile drawer.
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
- Skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
- Sufficient color contrast (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text) verified against WCAG.
- Alt text on meaningful images;
aria-hiddenon purely decorative SVG icons. - Language declarations (
langattribute) on the document and on Sinhala / Tamil pages. - Form errors announced via
aria-invalidand inline messages, not colour-only signalling. - Low-data mode — reduces page weight, strips web fonts, and falls back to a system font stack for visitors on constrained connections or assistive devices that benefit from system fonts.
4. Known Limitations
- UserWay widget. The third-party UserWay accessibility widget itself is not fully WCAG-compliant in its default state and cannot be CSS-overridden. We use it as a supplementary tool; the underlying site is built to be accessible without it.
- Some product images sourced from Vendors may lack detailed alt text. We are progressively backfilling alt text and require new vendor listings to include it.
- PDF documents linked from buyer guides may not all be fully tagged for screen readers. We are migrating critical content into HTML; PDFs are being remediated on request.
- Embedded third-party widgets (Stripe checkout, MetaSlider) inherit their own accessibility characteristics; we monitor and report issues to the providers.
5. Testing
We test with axe DevTools, WAVE, and Lighthouse on every major release. We also test with VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), NVDA (Windows), and keyboard-only navigation. Manual review covers the home, store, contact, vendor-register, and checkout flows.
6. Re-evaluation Schedule
We re-evaluate accessibility conformance annually and after any major redesign. The last full review was completed in May 2026.
7. Feedback & Contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on SriLankaExport.com, please tell us. Send the page URL, the issue, and your assistive technology (if any) to info@harker.international with subject “Accessibility”.
