Description
Banana leaves are used across South and Southeast Asia to wrap, steam and serve food: lamprais in Sri Lanka, meals on a leaf in South India, and many grilled and steamed dishes in Southeast Asian kitchens. Banana grows in almost every Sri Lankan home garden and plantation, and fresh leaves already travel by air with Sri Lankan vegetables to restaurants and grocers in the Gulf and the Maldives.
What we supply
- Half-leaves with the midrib removed
- Sheets cut to a size for wrapping or plating
- Round leaf plates cut to your diameter
Handling
Leaves are cut in the morning, wiped clean, stacked and wrapped to keep moisture in, and packed for the next available flight. Keep them cool on arrival. Fresh leaves are a plant product, so each shipment carries a phytosanitary certificate from Sri Lanka’s National Plant Quarantine Service, and some markets set their own import conditions.
Who buys it
Indian, Sri Lankan, Thai and Malaysian restaurants and caterers, Asian grocers and event caterers. Banana leaves can share an air shipment with our fresh vegetables.

Packing and shipping
