Description
Fresh Sri Lankan cassava (Manihot esculenta), also sold as manioc, tapioca or kappa. Whole roots are wax-coated after harvest, the usual way fresh cassava is prepared for export, to slow moisture loss and discolouration during the voyage. Shipped chilled in reefer containers to the Gulf, Europe and Asia.
Where it sells
Fresh cassava is a staple for South Asian, African and Latin American customers. It is bought by produce importers, wholesale markets and grocers serving those communities, and by caterers.
Handling
Fresh cassava is perishable even when waxed, so harvest-to-arrival time matters. Shelf life on arrival depends on the voyage and storage and is confirmed with the quote. Plan onward distribution before the container lands.
How to buy: request a quote with variety, quantity, packing and destination port. We confirm a firm price, packing, lead time and validity in writing, FOB Colombo or CIF/CFR to your port. Samples can be arranged before a first order.
Full or shared reefer containers
Buyers who are not ready for a full container can combine this with other chilled Sri Lankan produce, such as king coconuts, papaya and cassava, in one reefer.
What to tell us for a quote
- Quantity per shipment and how often you buy
- Preferred packing (carton or bag size)
- Destination port and the cold store or distributor at your end
- Any import requirements in your country, such as a phytosanitary certificate
Availability, packing and lead time are confirmed by our suppliers with each quotation and are not fixed in advance.
