Source Ceylon Vein Graphite
From the Only Place on Earth That Has It

Sri Lanka is the world’s only commercial source of high-purity natural vein (lump) graphite: a rare crystalline form prized for refractory, lubricant, and energy-storage applications. SriLankaExport is your sourcing agent for Ceylon graphite. We connect you with GSMB-licensed producers and arrange independent assay and inspection. We do not sell or take title to the material, and we are not a payment or escrow service: you contract and pay the licensed producer directly. For large orders we recommend settling by documentary letter of credit through your own bank.

How We Source Ceylon Graphite For You

SriLankaExport is a sourcing agent, not a graphite seller. Here is how a request works.

1. Specify your grade

Minimum fixed carbon (90 / 95 / 99%+), max ash, form (lump / chip / powder) and mesh, volume and destination. Post a sourcing request.

2. We match a licensed producer

We introduce you only to Sri Lankan producers/exporters whose GSMB mining & export license and track record we verify first.

3. Assay, KYC & protection

We arrange an independent third-party assay (SGS / Intertek). For large orders we recommend a documentary letter of credit through your own bank. We are not a payment or escrow service. High-purity grades are strategic, so end-use / end-user KYC applies. You pay the producer directly.

Why Ceylon Vein Graphite Is Different

Natural graphite comes in three forms: amorphous, flake, and vein. Vein graphite (also called lump or crystalline graphite) is the rarest and highest-purity of the three, and Sri Lanka is its only commercial source in the world. Formed in hydrothermal veins rather than disseminated through rock, it is mined at high natural purity, often above 90% carbon and frequently 95–99%+, with minimal beneficiation.

That natural crystallinity and low impurity profile is why industrial buyers pay a premium for it: it delivers superior electrical and thermal conductivity, lubricity, and high-temperature stability compared with flake or amorphous grades. Sri Lanka has mined it since the 19th century, and a handful of established mines, together with a new generation of producers, supply it to refractory, foundry, lubricant, and advanced-materials buyers worldwide.

Forms & Grades

  • Lump & chip: run-of-mine and hand-sorted lump, typically 90–99%+ fixed carbon
  • Powder & micronised: ground to buyer mesh specification for lubricants, coatings, and batteries
  • Purified grades: chemically or thermally upgraded toward 99.9%+ C for advanced applications

Where It Is Used

  • Refractories & crucibles: graphite crucibles, foundry facings, continuous-casting refractories
  • Lubricants: dry lubricants, greases, lubricating coatings, carbon brushes
  • Energy & advanced materials: feedstock for expandable graphite, fuel cells, and battery-grade precursors (further processing required for anode-grade)
  • Industrial: recarburiser for steel, conductive fillers, gaskets, friction materials

Quality & Documentation

  • Certificate of Analysis (fixed carbon %, ash, volatile matter, moisture) per shipment
  • Particle-size / mesh report for powder grades; sieve analysis on request
  • Independent third-party assay (SGS / Intertek) arranged on request before shipment

Supply-Chain Resilience

One country dominates global natural-graphite mining and nearly all downstream processing. Ceylon vein graphite gives refractory, lubricant, and advanced-materials buyers a genuine non-aligned origin to diversify into, the highest-purity natural graphite on the market, from a stable trading partner.

Importing Ceylon Graphite: What Buyers Should Know

Specification, documentation, and logistics for natural-graphite importers

Specify Your Grade

Define minimum fixed carbon (e.g. 90% / 95% / 99%+), maximum ash, and, for powder, mesh size and particle distribution. Vein graphite is sold to spec; a clear specification lets suppliers quote the right grade and price band accurately.

Documents

Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Analysis, packing list, and commercial invoice are standard. Natural graphite (HS 2504) is not a controlled mineral for most destinations, but confirm your country’s import classification and any battery-supply-chain reporting that may apply downstream.

Packing & Logistics

Shipped in 25–50 kg PP/paper bags, jumbo bags, or drums, palletised and containerised ex Colombo. Request a pre-shipment sample and third-party assay for first orders. FOB Colombo and CIF terms are both common.

Our Vetted Graphite Producer Network

We work with a network of GSMB-licensed Sri Lankan vein-graphite producers and exporters. Rather than list material for sale, we match your grade and volume to a licensed producer we have verified, then support assay, inspection and payment protection. Tell us what you need, or browse the wider verified-exporter directory.
