Sri Lanka exported about US$233 million of babywear in 2025. Factories make soft cotton knit garments for babies and toddlers for retailers in Europe and the United States.

Safety rules for children’s clothing

Babywear has its own rules. In the United States, children’s products need third-party testing and a Children’s Product Certificate under the CPSIA, plus tracking labels, and there are rules on snaps, cords and small parts. The EU and UK have their own requirements. Tell us your market and the factory arranges the testing your importer needs.

How made-to-order works

Sri Lankan garment factories make clothing for many well-known international brands, and they work to the buyer’s design. You send a tech pack, sketches or a reference garment; the factory develops a sample; you approve fit, fabric and finish; and the bulk order is made to the approved sample. Your labels, tags and packing are applied in the factory.

Minimum order per style and colour depends on the factory and the fabric. Larger factories work in thousands of pieces; mid-size factories take smaller runs. We match your order size to a factory that fits it, and confirm minimum, sample cost, lead time and price with the quote.

Packing and shipping

Orders are packed to your instruction and shipped by sea in a full or shared container, or by air for samples and small lots, quoted FOB Colombo, CFR or CIF to your port. Products from several Sri Lankan suppliers can share one container through our consolidation service.

How to get a price: tell us the quantity, your specification and your destination port. We quote FOB Colombo, CFR or CIF, with lead time and minimum order, and arrange samples before an order.

Which documents come with the shipment?

Every export shipment carries a certificate of origin. Ask the desk which other certificates your country requires.

Can I check quality before a bulk order?

Yes. Start with a sample or trial lot. We can also arrange a pre-shipment inspection or an independent lab test for any order.

How do I pay safely?

First and trial orders of about USD 2,000 to 20,000 can be paid through Escrow.com, which releases the money only after you accept the goods. Larger orders are paid by letter of credit.
