Description
Brown coir fibre extracted from the husk of mature Sri Lankan coconuts and pressed into bales for export. Sri Lanka is a major coir producer and is known for bristle fibre, the long, stiff fibre used in brushes and brooms. Sri Lanka exported about US$231 million of coir fibre in 2025, and our exporter directory lists close to 300 coir businesses.
Grades
- Bristle fibre: long, stiff fibre used for brushes, brooms and doormats
- Mattress fibre: shorter fibre used for mattresses, upholstery padding and rubberised coir sheets
- Twisted fibre: fibre twisted into rope form for stuffing and padding
Specification
Fibre is graded by length, cleanliness (impurity content) and moisture. Tell us the grade, the length you need and your bale size, and we confirm the specification on the sample.
Who buys it
Brush and broom makers, mattress and upholstery manufacturers, and rubberised coir producers. Our finished coir listings (doormats, geotextiles, grow media) are made from the same fibre.
