The FDA explains its proposed rule tightening oversight of substances added to food that are claimed to be Generally Recognized as Safe. Relevant to anyone shipping ingredients, extracts or additives to the US.

CBI and the SIFAV buyer initiative explain what European importers and retailers now expect from fresh produce suppliers on sustainability. Useful for Sri Lankan exporters of fresh fruit, vegetables and king coconut who want to prepare for buyer questions before they come up.
Who can join: Producers, exporters, cooperatives and business support organisations from low- and middle-income countries interested in exporting fresh fruit and vegetables to Europe

The European Commission walks through ELAN, the new EU system for agri-food trade documents, which becomes mandatory for non-EU countries from 17 January 2028. It mainly concerns competent authorities and tariff rate quota and basmati documents today, but fruit, vegetable and cereal documents are planned later, so it is an early heads-up for Sri Lankan exporters and the agencies that certify them.

Same ELAN briefing as the 20 October session, run at a time that falls in the Colombo afternoon (13:30 to 15:00). ELAN is mostly for competent authorities and quota or basmati documents for now, so it is background knowledge rather than an urgent compliance step for most Sri Lankan exporters.

A live, instructor-led FSPCA course on the FDA Food Traceability Rule, covering the Food Traceability List, Critical Tracking Events and Key Data Elements. Sri Lankan suppliers of listed foods such as fresh produce and some seafood will be asked by US importers for these records, so one trained person on staff helps keep US buyers.

The 2.5-day FSPCA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual course on the new 2.0 curriculum, delivered live online. US importers verifying foreign suppliers under FSVP expect a PCQI-trained food safety plan, so this is the standard credential for a Sri Lankan processor of spices, tea, coconut products or ingredients selling to the US.

Dutch market trade flows, volumes and buyer requirements for dried fruit and edible nuts, with a Dutch trader and an experienced supplier as guest speakers. Useful for cashew and dried fruit exporters.

A repeat run of the live online FSPCA Food Traceability Rule course for anyone who cannot make the October dates. It covers the records US importers of Food Traceability List items must be able to hand to FDA within 24 hours, which they in turn ask of their Sri Lankan suppliers once the rule is enforced.
