Fine charcoal powder made from Sri Lankan coconut shell, for food and cosmetic makers. Bakers and food makers use it to colour bread, buns, ice cream and pasta black, and cosmetic makers use it in face masks, soaps and toothpastes.

Grades

Powder can be made from activated carbon or from non-activated shell charcoal, depending on the use and on what your market permits. Food use is regulated differently from place to place: in the EU, vegetable carbon is an approved food colour (E153) with its own purity criteria. Tell us the use and your market and we confirm the grade and the tests needed.

Testing

For food and cosmetics, buyers usually ask for particle size, ash, moisture, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) and microbiology. These can be tested on the lot before shipment and reported to you directly.

Claims

We do not make health, detox or digestive claims for this product. It is sold as a colouring and cosmetic ingredient.
