Sri Lanka is one of the world’s largest producers of coir, the natural fibre and pith extracted from coconut husks. The island’s coconut triangle feeds a deep base of mills and exporters supplying brown and white fibre, coir pith (coco peat), twine, geotextiles and brushware to horticulture, construction and home-goods buyers worldwide.

What’s the difference between coir fibre and coco peat?
Coir fibre is the long strands from the husk (used in mattresses, brushes, geotextiles and rope); coco peat (coir pith) is the spongy material between the fibres, processed into a popular soilless grow medium.
Can I get low-EC / buffered coco peat?
Yes, several listed exporters supply washed, low-EC and calcium-buffered coco peat for sensitive crops and hydroponic systems. Specify your target EC and pH in the enquiry.
How is it shipped?
Usually as compressed blocks, discs or bales to maximize container fill, one 40ft container holds a large volume of expanded product. Exporters quote FOB Colombo and can advise on the most efficient packing for your format.
