How decaf tea is made

Tea is decaffeinated after it is made, not grown low in caffeine. The main methods use carbon dioxide or ethyl acetate as the solvent. Carbon dioxide tends to keep more of the flavor. Some buyers and some markets prefer one method over the other, and some organic standards restrict the solvent. That is why the method matters as much as the caffeine figure.

Quality and documents
