Working at SriLankaExport

## Workplace Policy

How we work at SriLankaExport.com, operated by Harker International (Pvt) Ltd, Kandy, Sri Lanka. Last updated 29 July 2026.

### Remote first

Our team works fully remotely from anywhere in Sri Lanka. There is no office you must report to. Training, tools, leads and scripts are provided online from day one, and onboarding is done over video calls with the owners.

### Working hours

Full-time team members work a forty hour week, ordinarily Monday to Friday, within the limits of the Shop and Office Employees Act. Each working day is one continuous span with a meal interval, never a split shift. Within that framework, you choose your own daily start and finish times, agreed with your manager, along with availability during agreed business coverage periods for speaking with international buyers and Sri Lankan exporters.

Working time is logged daily in our time system. Work beyond the weekly commitment happens only with prior authorization and is compensated as the law requires.

### Pay and statutory contributions

Salaries are paid monthly in Sri Lankan rupees, on or before the last working day of each month. EPF and ETF contributions are made as Sri Lankan law requires. Commission plans, where a role carries one, are set out in the written offer and commission plan.

### Holidays and leave

All Sri Lankan public and mercantile holidays, including monthly Poya days, are paid days off. Where business needs require work on a public holiday or a Poya day, it is compensated at the statutory premium rate or with a day in lieu, as the Shop and Office Employees Act provides. Annual and casual leave accrue per that Act, and we provide paid company sick days from your first day in addition to the statutory entitlements.

### Allowances and expenses

Roles that involve regular calling carry a monthly mobile allowance. Reasonable, pre-approved work-related expenses, such as travel for vendor visits, are reimbursed at cost.

### Your equipment, our data

We are a bring-your-own-device workplace. You use your own computer and phone, and we ask for sensible device security in return: a lock screen, up-to-date software, and company accounts protected with two-factor authentication. Business data, leads and customer information belong to the company and are handled under our privacy commitments and the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022. The skills and experience you build are yours to keep.

### How we communicate

Day to day, we work over WhatsApp, phone and video calls. We keep meetings few and short. Because the team spans Sri Lanka and the United States, we write things down so decisions do not depend on everyone being online at the same moment.

### Joining us

New team members join on a three month probation period with clear, written criteria agreed at the start, and are confirmed to permanent on successful completion. We hire on ability and attitude, and we welcome early-career candidates: full training is part of every role.

This page is a summary of our standard working arrangements. The written offer letter and employment agreement issued to each employee are the definitive terms for that person, and where they differ from this page, they prevail. We review this policy as the team grows.
