A mixed cut of the island harvest.

Mixed fruit cocktail in jars, from the Maple Ceylon organic range. Packed six jars per carton.

### About fruit cocktail in jars

Fruit cocktail is a mix of cut fruits preserved in juice or syrup. In Sri Lanka the tropical fruits commonly used in such mixes include pineapple, papaya, mango, banana and jackfruit, which grow across the island's wet and intermediate zones.

Jarred fruit is heat treated after sealing, so it is shelf stable without refrigeration until opened. Glass jars let the buyer see the fruit and are commonly packed in cartons for shipping.

#### Common uses

- Desserts, fruit salads and toppings
- Breakfast with yogurt or cereal
- Bakery and cake fillings
- Hotel and food service buffets

#### Storage and documents

Unopened jars typically keep 12 to 24 months at room temperature; once opened they should be refrigerated. Glass needs protective carton packing to avoid breakage in transit. Buyers usually ask for a certificate of analysis, a health or phytosanitary certificate as the destination requires, a certificate of origin and, for retail packs, label details that meet local rules. Exact specification, packing, MOQ and price are confirmed on the quote. Buyers of organic product also ask for the organic certificate and a transaction certificate valid for their market.

#### What to include in a quote request

A clear request usually states the product form and cut, the pack size and packing (bulk or retail), any labeling or private label needs, the quantity per shipment and how often, the destination port and the Incoterm, for example FOB Colombo or CIF. Mentioning the food safety certification required by the destination market helps the supplier confirm fit.
