Description
Key attributes
Coco peat and coir fibre absorb several times their weight in liquid, so Sri Lankan mills compress them into bales and blocks as bedding for horses, poultry, cattle and small animals, and into pet litter. The material expands with water and can be composted after use.
What to include in your request
- Animal and use (stable, poultry house, small pets, cat litter)
- Peat, fibre, chips or a mix, and the EC or dust level you accept
- Bale or block size and weight
- Quantity per shipment and destination port
How to get a price: tell us the quantity, your specification and your destination port. We quote FOB Colombo, CFR or CIF, with lead time and minimum order, and arrange samples before an order.
Choosing the material
Coco peat is fine and very absorbent, suited to cat litter and small pets. Coir fibre and chips are coarser, drain better and make less dust, which suits stables and poultry houses. A washed, low EC material is preferred where bedding is later spread on land. Compressed blocks cut freight, since one block expands to several times its volume once water is added.
What to tell us for a quote
- Moisture level you accept at arrival
- Packing: bales on pallets, loose blocks or retail bags
- Whether you need private label bags
Quality and documents
Each lot can be tested by an independent laboratory before shipment. Export documents are arranged with the shipment.
Samples and lead time
Samples are available before an order. Price, minimum order and lead time are confirmed with the quotation.
