### Why source Nutmeg & Mace from Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan nutmeg and its lacy red aril, mace, are grown in the wet-zone hills and valued for their high essential-oil content. Sold whole or ground, and as feedstock for nutmeg oil and oleoresin.

Forms & grades: Whole nutmeg & mace, or ground; conventional or organic; also for oil / oleoresin. Browse current listings on our [Nutmeg & Mace category page](/spices-herbs/).

### Duty & tariff treatment for Russia

Russia applies the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Common Customs Tariff, and Sri Lanka is a beneficiary of the EAEU’s tariff-preference scheme for developing countries, reduced duty on covered goods, so confirm whether your HS line is included. Russia is one of the world’s largest buyers of Ceylon tea.

The EAEU preference requires a valid proof of origin (Form A / origin declaration) for covered goods.

Always confirm the current rate. Tariffs and preference schemes change. Check your exact HS line in the [EAEU / Russia customs tariff](https://eec.eaeunion.org/en/), and estimate duty + freight + insurance together with our [landed-cost calculator](/freight-calculator/). We don’t publish line-item tariff figures because they move and depend on your precise product and origin proof.

### Import requirements for Russia

Typical requirements for bringing Nutmeg & Mace into Russia include:

- EAEU conformity (EAC declaration/certificate) and Russian/EAEU labeling for food products.
- A phytosanitary certificate (cleared by Rosselkhoznadzor) for plant products.
- Confirm current banking, payment and sanctions arrangements before contracting. These have changed and can affect settlement and logistics.

Your exporter prepares the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin; see our [export documents checklist](/sri-lanka-export-documents-checklist/) for the full set.
