Gherkins are small cucumbers grown for pickling. Sri Lankan farmers grow them under contract for export processors, who preserve them in brine for shipment in bulk to picklers abroad, or in vinegar, ready to eat. Sri Lanka exported about US$10 million of gherkins in 2025, much of it to Europe.

グレーディング

Gherkins are graded by count per kilo, from very small cornichons to larger sizes. Tell us the grade, the medium and your recipe if you need them finished in Sri Lanka.

Picklers in Europe and North America buy most of the bulk brine stock.
